Andhadhun directed by ace director Sriram Raghavan is a slick dark suspense thriller. Definitely, in the first note, I want to say this is the best movie in Sriram’s resume. The film cast Ayushman Khurrana as Akash is a piano teacher. The title of the film is first titled as “The Piano Teacher”. Andha-Dhun title is representing Andha (Blind) as Akash and his passion (Dhun)music. Here is a full Andhadhun Movie Review with fewer spoilers.
Andhadhun Movie Review
Andhadhun has every element that every classic ahead of its time movie has. The film starts with a very nice fresh mood and unfolds in a very smooth way. Sriram Raghavan and other three writers have worked very hard for the film which is actually based on a French short film ‘L’Accordeur’ (The Piano Tuner).
Akash(Ayushmann Khurrana), a pianist living deeply passionate about his art. Akash finds a inspiration for a creative in Sophie (Radhika Apte), an abandoned and a neglected girl who offers him to playing piano in her father’s restaurant.
At the restaurant, Akash has a chance encounter with Pramod(Anil Dhawan), a movie star in past who is dining out on blurred honor and stardom. This meeting leads Akash to a private performance at Pramod’s house where Pramod organizing a surprise wedding anniversary as a present for Pramod’s wife Simi (Tabu).
Now when Tabu’s character is introduced and the film gets more complex and moved to a very whole new direction. Tabu’s character “Simi” is the soul of this dark comedy film. She is like a woman from Dothraki. In a scene, where Simi is explaining how to investigate to a cop, it’s her essence and versatility of the actress.
And once again it will be noted in every Andhadhun movie review in the internet, that every shot is a masterstroke of the Ace director “Sriram Raghavan” and one-liners and humorous scenes written by the writers.

Analysis of Andha-Dhun
I want to say very less about the movie in Andhadhun movie review because there are lots of expectation from every department of Andhadhun. This is a fine example to set in front of Bollywood aspiring director that how to make a no-nonsense thriller about dark characters keeping in a certain color palette and not to move on a deep dark scale with a very good contribution from the cinematographer Mohanan.
The director has masterly given references like Marvel directors did. He has given easter eggs references to old Hindi classic songs Doordarshan’san’s cult shows such as Chaya Geet and Chitrahar. The rabbit who has a very pivot role in the film. Tabu who has done Indian adaptation of Mcbeth – “Maqbool” is here as a lady version of the character. And most favorite easter eggs from the movie is from Sriram’s spy thriller “Agent Vinod” where in the song we can see a female piano artist who is blind, that scene is the whole genesis of “AndhaDhun”. Name of Simi might be a metaphor of Simi Grewal “Rendezvous” and the reused movie scenes from Anil Dhawan’s old movies has put in the right places.
If you like Hollywood dark comedy movies such as Taxi Driver and American Psycho. You’ll definitely like this not only as a Bollywood movie but as a movie showcasing to the world of cinephiles. We have recently seen in regional industry directors such as Karthik Naren from Tamil and many more from Malayalam doing such cool experiments but for Bollywood, it’s a completely new experience.
Many people walk through saying about the average songs but I found the songs are best fit in such dark comedy. Amit Trivedi has done a fine job after the musical hits of the year such as Manmarziyan.
Andhadhun cast some of the finest talents from our country. Ayushman improving his skills in comedy now in this engaging dark role is very impressive but the show stealers of the Andhadhun is Tabu. Her character arc throughout the movie will make you impressed and a character you have never seen in Indian screen. Radhika Apte has some of her moments but less of her after the interval.
Last Word: I don’t find any mistakes in the movie just watch this intelligent flick in theatres. Andhadhun is a film that is very near to perfection.
