Mandharam is a romcom film directed by Vijesh Vijay. Mandharam is written by M. Sajas, with Asif Ali, and in the lead role. The film was produced by Monisha Rajeev and Tinu Thomas under the banner of Magic Mountain Cinemas. Here is Asif Ali’s Mandaram Review.
Yet another rom-com Malayalam movie, we have seen some of this genre in past from Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salman. The debutant director Vijesh Vijay has done a very safe film with an ordinary narrative and formulaic storyline with a good intention as a first-time storyteller.
Mandram tells the story of Rajesh (played by Asif Ali) is rendezvous with love from childhood days. In his high-school, he met the love of his life who later he later found that she is disloyal to him, Rajesh goes on self-foist in singlehood with depression until Rajesh meets Charu(Varsha Bollama) at the age of 22, who he cannot resist.
Did it Sound Like Premam? Then the story continues-
As the intervals, it is disclosed that Charu has a boyfriend and Rajesh is left broken-hearted like the previous time. Mandaram seems like a seen painting in a new canvas. Rajesh is an engineering college in Bengaluru who is passionate about some other things, while Charu is an updated young girl. Asif Ali’s act as the confused loverboy offered nothing nobility to the screen, though his group of friends and others offers a much-needed tension free that no doubting about the worth time it deserves or not.

The writer-director “Vijesh Vijay” brings nothing new to the screens. It seems like he trying to amalgamate two-three Bollywood and Mollywood romantic comedy. But as a standalone film not comparing to what others are making is nice to watch but today’s audience demands something new conceptual to each and every forth-coming projects.
Talking about the cast, they have nothing new to discover or prove their skills. Even such talented star cast the film doesn’t make you satisfied which consist of stories from a slice of life in two-three episodes. As a last word want to say Mandram is recommended to watch if you are not demanding any unique concept.
